SUBMITTED YOUR IDEA: WHAT'S NEXT?

Modified on Thu, 17 Sep at 12:11 PM

So, you’ve submitted your Start Something New application, what happens now?

Your application is reviewed:

The New Activities Committee (NAC) will meet to review your application against the Start Something New criteria. They’ll consider whether your proposed group is viable and if we can support your idea.

The decision making process is completely student-led, supported by our full-time Deputy President (Activities) sabbatical officer.

You’ll receive the outcome of your application by:

  • Round One: 6th November 2026

  • Round Two: 12th February 2027

If your application is unsuccessful:

If your application isn’t approved, we’ll provide feedback explaining why your idea wasn’t considered viable or didn’t meet the criteria.

If you applied in Round One, you’re welcome to use this feedback to make changes and reapply in Round Two.

Please note that there is no appeals process, and NAC’s decision is final.

If your application is approved:

Congratulations! You’ll be invited to a mixer, where you’ll meet your mentor and find out more about the next steps. We'll send you all the information you need and provide training to get you started as quickly as possible.

Your mentor will be a member of NAC who will support you throughout the set-up process and help answer any questions you have along the way.

You’ll then need to submit your set-up admin, including your:

Once all your admin has been submitted and approved, we can get your group officially set up.

Getting your group up and running:

As part of the set-up process, we’ll:

  • Provide a shared email address to support any group admin.
  • Allocate your group £100 to help you get started

If you’re reviving an existing group, there may already be money in its account. If there is more than £100, you’re in luck! If there is less than £100, we’ll top it up so that you start with £100.

We’re here to help

You don’t have to navigate the process alone. Whether you have questions about your application, need help understanding feedback, or aren’t sure what you need to do next, we’re here to support you.

Simply submit a ticket and a member of the Activities Team will be happy to help.
