MOVIE NIGHTS & FILM SCREENINGS
Your CSP may wish to screen a movie or film for an activity. At ICU we separate this activity into two categories: Movie night or Film Screening. This resource will help to clarify the criteria of each, and what is required from your CSP when planning the activity.
What is the difference between a movie night and film screening?
The criteria for a movie night is a small gathering where attendees do not have to buy a ticket to view the movie/participate, this is usually considered a core activity therefore covered under your CSP Core Risk Assessment.
If you are planning a film screening event where you will charge for tickets or open to external attendees, you will need to submit an activity proposal and risk assessment.
Depending on the location, you may also need to apply for a film screening license through the official channels. Follow the flow chart below to determine what steps you need to take for your activity.
Film screening license
To obtain a film screening license please apply to the relevant organisations, this is not an ICU process. However, we do need to be aware that you intend to obtain the necessary license, so please indicate in your activity proposal and risk assessment that you will be applying for this.
Note: Do not apply for a film screening license until your risk assessment and budget is approved.
